Both Taste of Belgium and Esporta Fitness will be closing this month.

TRENDING STORIES:

News Center 7 called Esporta on Friday morning and confirmed that they will be closing on Jan. 31. As reported on News Center 7 at 5:30, a manager said they’re closing because of lacking member check-ins.

One man who’s been going there for 16 years told News Center 7 that he didn’t know of the closure until he tried to renew his membership.

“He said, ‘Oh by the way, it’s to end this month,’ and I’m like ‘What?’” Eric Lyons said.

Members can switch to another Esporta location, but they say this location was convenient.

Taste of Belgium will close this Sunday, Jan. 12, at 8 p.m., according to a press release.

The bistro opened at The Greene in June 2023 and marked Taste of Belgium’s first expansion outside of the Cincinnati market. The closure comes less than a month after the bistro closed its location at Austin Landing.

Benjamin White, of Mason, learned of Taste of Belgium’s closure from News Center 7 on Friday.

“I’m surprised they’re closing, but I’m pretty sure they don’t make enough money,” White said. “You have all these other restaurants.”

Taste of Belgium’s founder, Jean-Francois Flechet, said they were impacted by the “evolution of full-service casual dining and changing customer habits around dining out.” He also noted a holiday shopping season that didn’t meet expectations.

“We expected a much stronger shopping season at The Greene during the holidays, but we just did not see the influx of people we had hoped for,” Flechet said. “We’re committed to ensuring the survival and sustainability of our business.”
