Things you should never do while we’re in this drought

Severe Drought is affecting parts of Clark, Champaign, Clinton, Montgomery, Greene, and Warren counties.

This accounts for 12.8% of our area, which is a marked increase from the 0.1% affected last week. Additionally, the entire area is in at least Abnormally Dry conditions.

Storm Center 7 is tracking a chance for rain and storms Friday, but News Center 7 weather specialist Nick Dunn said, but it is not enough to make a big dent in the overall drought conditions.

This means that we are in need of more frequent rainy periods and less time spent with extended dry conditions.

Here’s are a couple lesser known tips about avoiding a fire:

1) Keep vehicles off dry grass.

2) Don’t use fireworks or consider safe alternatives.

3) Celebrate carefully with our outdoor BBQs.

4) Fire pits and campfires should be at least 10 feet away from all structures and flammable materials.

Stay safe and pray for rain to help give our area some relief.
