These are the songs you might have taken the top down on your car. Summer songs from the 80s.

Here in Ohio, it’s the smell of freshly cut grass, the cornfields starting to sprout and grow, summer festivals and concerts.

To get you in the summer mood, here’s Nick Roberts top 5 summer songs:

1) Summer of ‘69 from Bryan Adams: What else can you say about this song? Who else drove down I-75 in the summer with the windows down cranking this song back in the day!

2) The Boys of Summer by Don Henley: The lyrics talk about a time where summer is over and relationships are coming to an end, but the song is so powerful and deserves a place on my list.

3) DJ Jazzy Jeff and & The Fresh Prince: This song spent a week at #1 in the R&B charts and was a top 5 hit on the Hot 100 in 1991. It also samples Kool and The Gang. What could be a better summertime song that you can crank?

4) Summer Breeze from Seals & Crofts: This is a real oldie folks. I don’t care how old the song is, if you’re looking for a song that makes you feel like a warm summer breeze, this one is it.

5) Endless Summer Nights by Richard Marx: This song came out in the late 1980′s which is perfect as it reminisces about summers past. If you could end the 80′s decade with a song about summer, this one is totally it.

A few Nick notable mentions:

  • All Summer Long by Kid Rock
  • Suddenly Last Summer by The Motels
  • Summer Nights by John Travolta/Olivia Newton John
  • Sly & The Family Stone: Hot Fun in the Summertime
