I have a serious question about Hot Dogs. Yes, Hot Dogs.

Today is national hot dog day. I think this is a great excuse to consume hot dogs. Here are a few hot dog facts, then a serious question:

1)  People still argue about them: 53% of Americans think a hot dog is a sandwich.

2) They’re popular: The Council estimates Americans consume 20 billion hot dogs a year - more than twice the retail sales figures. That works out to about 70 hot dogs per person each year. Hot dogs are served in 95 percent of homes in the United States.

3) West coast eats the most: Los Angeles residents consume more hot dogs than any other city (about 30 million pounds), beating out New York and Dallas.

Here’s my question.

When I taste Bologna and Hot Dogs, to me it seems like the same exact thing except the shape and the way it’s prepared (or not prepared.) Does anyone know if they are the same thing for sure?
